We build our future by the choices and actions we take today. Sunday’s New Moon at 17° Virgo is helping us focus on the details, those practical steps that will eventually lead us to where we hope to be in the future. That said, there is also a call for consistently checking-in from a deeper place within ourselves.

During the past few months, we had 6 (out 8 possible) planets retrograde. Typically this is a time of drawing inward for reflection. With more planets direct in recent weeks, we have an increased eagerness to bring ourselves back to the world. With the New Moon in Virgo, it’s now time to implement your answer to the question, “What new practices or systems do I need to put in place, that will support the construction of the future I now want for myself?”

Remember to keep it simple. Perfection is the enemy of the good. Choose one easy action step. Once it becomes a habit, take another step.

The New Moon will oppose Neptune in Pisces. This provides tension, helping you attain balance as you pursue your new future. It’s easy to turn Virgo season into an neverending list of to-dos. And to assess ourselves on our ability to complete those tasks. Neptune reminds us to be compassionate to ourselves, especially when we feel we’re not measuring up.

Regularly relaxing into the arms of love and connection is a healthy and necessary part in your movement forward.

Another layer of this productive lunation is Jupiter in Scorpio forming a dynamic and friendly aspect to the New Moon. We have an opportunity to do some heavy inner work. If we’re up for the challenge, we’ll reap the benefits years to come. This could look like, finally booking that session with a therapist, astrologer, or coach to precisely identify the deep seated fears that keep holding you back. And to do practical work on how to manage those fears better.

Now let’s talk a bit about “work”.

In astrology, this is a word mostly associated with Virgo. But all the earth signs (in their unique expression) can be linked with it. The activation (on and off ) of a Grand Earth Trine, is gently helping us get back to work. This represents an an easy flow of energy. Use it towards something pragmatic. If you have a difficult task, that you couldn’t see your way through, now is the time to tackle it and see results.

It’s easy sometimes to use work as a distraction from the uncomfortable things happening in our lives. And work (or service) is just as important to our personal development. It’s hard-wired in us to contribute our talents. How we serve is one way in which we get that itch scratched. So when the astrological energy is prompting us to get to work, do your best to choose the kind that comes from a place of service and contribution.

Wishing you a happy, healthy, and productive Virgo New Moon!
