As social animals, other people and the environment influence us. There is no other sign that describes this phenomenon quite like Libra. This archetype seeks to accomplish balance and peace externally to achieve that within. This is the power that others and our environment can have over us. The Libra New Moon (at 13°), occurring at 4:05 am PST on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, will help you see and address imbalances in relational power. The events that unfold during this New Moon period will ask you to engage with your insecurities and detach from the control of others and your environment.

What will this look like?

Each of us has an emotional set point that we try to maintain daily. The Libra New Moon, in conjunction with Mars at 14°Libra, will trigger our survival instincts. This provides an opportunity to establish a new place of emotional balance within relationships. It won’t be easy to step into discomfort intentionally, but remember you’re only passing through; discomfort is not the destination.

Venus, the ruler of this lunation, is finishing up its transit of Scorpio, adding additional intensity to this relational new start.

In Scorpio, Venus helps to reveal unbalances of power within relationships and can be instrumental in unlocking emotions around abandonment. Perhaps you’ll receive an unexpected bill, a partner loses a job, or resources seem scarce or fall short of expectation. Begin now to sit with feelings of helplessness, unworthiness, and rage building towards the Aries Full Moon, later in the month.

Despite the actual conditions impacting others, seek to focus on your capacity to be emotionally resilient. Your acts of resourcefulness should not take away from another’s agency.

Mercury retrograde in Libra can also serve as a superpower if you’re willing to turn away from external drama to rumble with your own thoughts, feelings, and actions. Don’t be afraid to ask yourself tough questions that lack answers at this time.

Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, stations direct

Since April 28th, we’ve undergone a collective transformative process signified by Pluto’s retrograde in Capricorn. Locate 26° to 24° degrees of Capricorn. Wherever this lands in your natal chart is where Pluto will begin to slowly exert its full power.

You won’t likely notice Pluto’s direct motion unless it touches one or more of your natal planets. The main thing to be aware of now is that something is coming to an end as it concerns the governing of people, distribution of resources and power, how success is measured, and what is considered “mainstream.”

Whether we’re ready to see these changes (or not), there is grief in the loss of the old way. Additionally, what is ending will put up a good fight to stay alive, leaving us all a bit battered and bruised.
