With the rush of early spring behind us, we enter mid-spring and Taurus season. Usually a period of respite from the aggressiveness of Aries season. However, with the co-presence of Uranus (May 2018) and the Lunar North Node (January 2022) in Taurus, it’s challenging to maintain simplicity and comfort. Use this period productively by mastering how to ground your creative flow.

Grounding your creativity in chaotic times
Imagine a small town recently disseminated by a tornado. The inhabitants experience shock, anger, grief, and finally, acceptance. Some may decide to move away in search of more stable ground, while the majority will stay and rebuild. The community knows more tornados are likely, but they’re committed to creating again, differently.
This is the story of us moving through the Taurus season this year. We have an opportunity to focus on accessing more stability for the changes we’ve experienced thus far while also preparing for more unpredictability. `
The promise of the Sun’s transit through Taurus is that whatever we sew now will take root if you remember the lessons of what didn’t work last time. This isn’t about creating what we had but instead continuing to nurture something new.
The start of something creative is relatively easy. To build upon what you’ve started takes dedication. Twists and turns abound. So what can you do to ground this creativity flow?
Remembering the Simple Pleasures of the Body
Depending on where you are, this time of year typically brings the most comfortable weather. It’s not too hot and not too cold. This “just right” weather makes it feel good to be in the body. Taurus season is all about being in the body and enjoying it. Good food, sex, rest, and nature all require embodiment. What you can taste, touch, see, smell, and hear makes our earthly existence more pleasurable.
Getting back to what feels good for you will help fight overwhelm this season. When you’re in a state of pleasure, you can’t be in fear. Now is a great time to overhaul your daily schedule to include more opportunities to enjoy life simply. There is no need to make grand gestures to pull yourself towards the extreme; just build in small moments that make you feel settled inside yourself.
Huge shifts in relating: Venus in Pisces vs. Venus in Aries
The Sun’s transit through Taurus is always influenced by the transit of its ruler Venus. In the first half of Taurus season, Venus will be in Pisces and then Aries for the final half. A very dramatic shift as Venus moves from a sign of exaltation to one of great difficulty.
Use the first half of Taurus season to tap into your creative flow. You can find inspiration in nature, music, and experiences. Meditation and other ways of disconnecting from chaos will be more effortless. Take advantage and stubbornly pursue these moments.
The Venus in Pisces period will also provide practice for managing overwhelm. We’re energetically connected to everything and everyone. You’re not just dealing with your stuff, so having a process to boundary yourself is a good idea.
When Venus enters Aries on May 10, Taurus season will take on a new vibe. With Venus in Aries, there is intense energy of primal attraction that is alive. This is an optimum time for Spring cleaning. You can use this energy to liven up a relationship that has gotten into a rut, take a risk to connect with someone new, be edgier with your style, and overall be more direct and self-honoring in all interactions with others.
Where it’s happening in your chart
Based on your Rising Sign, below is a snapshot of where you can finally ground your creative flow this season. These are general interpretations and do not constitute medical advice or professional services.
Aries Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 2nd House of money, resources, and values. Grounding your creative flow may look like paying attention to how money comes in and goes out. Do you have the right balance that will allow you to nurture the new foundations you’ve been working towards? Sometimes you may need to be out of balance to know what balance feels like for you. Get ready to attract more of what you desire when Venus moves into Aries.
Taurus Rising. The Sun is transiting your 1st House of identity and body image. Since 2018 you’ve been experiencing a personal renaissance of sorts as you try new ways of being. The creativity you’re embodying now will take on deeper roots. What unique aspects of self do you want to continue to nature? What are you ready to leave behind for good? Look at how you wear your hair and the colors and styles you choose. You are communicating who you are to the world.
Gemini Rising. The Sun is transiting your 12th House of spirituality, secrets, and institutions that separate, i.e., prisons/nursing homes. When was the last time you took a break? Grounding your creative flow will be supported by taking much-needed time off to reconnect with your body and what you find pleasurable. With your ruler Mercury also going retrograde this season, it’s a double indicator of needing to pull back and away.
Cancer Rising. The Sun is transiting your 11th House of friendship, groups, and aspirations. Lately, it seems like friendships are a source of pain for you. It’s hard to let go of those you love and rely upon heavily for a sense of security and joy. Mastering your creative flow this month will look like spending time with new relationships different from the old but still inspiring you to into a new direction. Who are those new tribe members you want to call in?
Leo Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 10th House of career/status in society. You’re likely someone who is viewed publicly as a rock. You have a highly dependable can-do attitude even when the shit hits the fan. Since 2018, you’ve realized the consequences of molding yourself into what others need. External circumstances likely pushed this new awareness upon you, and it’s been hard to adapt. This month the key to getting back to firmer ground is to connect with your authentic self. Who do you want to be? Where do you want to place your precious time, energy, and genius?
Virgo Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 9th House of religion/philosophy, long-distance travel, and higher education. Inspiration has been slow but constant. Gather all your new ideas now and start building upon them. Start with 2-3 and go deeper. This will help ground your creative flow into a few directions to prevent overwhelm and increase productivity. If higher education or travel is in the cards for you now, think shorter term. Trying to shut-down possibilities will only prove frustrating.
Libra Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 8th House of transformation, inheritance, and sexuality. It can be very healing when creative energy passes through this part of your chart. What gets created is always informed by the past, so use this timeframe to revisit your past or that of your ancestors. Later you may choose to share your experience in service to others. Although not entirely complete, you’re putting the pieces together of your legacy. Grounding the creative flow now will evolve, embodying more of that transformation.
Scorpio Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 7th House of marriage and partnerships. You’re always the more complicated one in relationships because you see the true depth and shadow in all things. Those you choose as partners tend to be down-to-earth, genuine, and enjoy the finer things. This has been far from reality for a while now. Massive shifts disrupted the very essence of how you relate. Making room for relationships to be messy and complicated is helping you find new ways toward peaceful co-existence.
Sagittarius Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 6th House of daily routines, work, health, and pets. Many things can change the look, feel, and overall quality of our daily lives. For example, new work opportunities, taking care of an elderly parent, moving in with your partner, or the death of a beloved pet. You’ve had to adapt quickly to minimize the disruption and feel safe within these new realities. This Taurus season, take note of what you want things to look like and create that for yourself. You’ll find that pouring creative energy into the mundane of daily life is grounding.
Capricorn Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 5th House of children and creativity. Typically you’re highly motivated and competent at what you produce. When inspiration strikes, you put effort into things to make it happen. That said, these past years have not felt that way. The creative process has been uncontrollable and disappointing. Even if you had a clear picture of what you were hoping for, the result has not lived up to the vision. This Taurus season will have you finding firming ground to create but use what you’ve learned to help you create differently.
Aquarius Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 4th House of home and family. Families are all made up of individuals with varying needs, resources, and personalities. This can make it tricky for everyone to always be on the same page. This month pay attention to how you cut off your creativity to keep the peace. Grounding your creative flow will require some selfishness and setting healthier patterns of interaction among loved ones.
Pisces Rising. The Sun is transiting through your 3rd House of communications, siblings, and neighbors. You have a way of communicating that is simple yet profound. From the outside looking in, you make it look easy. Lately, many old feelings or old drama with siblings have been complicating your ability to create. Don’t be too hard on yourself, and remember your genius for keeping it simple despite the chaos.
Other important stuff
We’re in eclipse season too.
Our Lunationas this month are accompanied by a partial solar eclipse (April 30) and a total lunar eclipse (May 15).
Eclipses occur, in pairs, roughly every six months. They signify potent beginnings and endings in a specific area of life. They also highlight the conflicts between the higher and lower expression of the signs occupied by the transiting Lunar Nodes.
Since January, the transiting Nodes have been revealing themes related to the archetypes of Taurus and Scorpio. As we yearn for simpler times, we’ve had to accept the chaos of transformation. On one end, we see the destruction of life, and on the other, we see humanity’s resiliency. It’s not all bleak, and being somewhere in the middle of these two extremes is a challenging balancing act. The eclipses always occur to move us closer to that balance point.
Mercury retrogrades again
During this Taurus season, we’ll begin the second of four Mercury retrograde periods in 2022. Mercury will station retrograde at 5° Gemini on May 10th, disrupting a generally easy transit through its sign of rulership. All things mercurial (communication, learning, short-distance travel) will be turned on its head.
Because you know this is coming, check out some guidance here on what to do when Mercury goes retrograde. Go slow and be adaptable. Things may not be what they seem and will require more time for analysis.
Whatever you do, don’t play victim to Mercury retrograde. This is happening for you, not to you. Mercury retrograde periods are always supportive of grounding creative energy. This pause to go inwards will help you move forward faster when Mercury goes direct.
