How you start, a thing is important. That’s why there’s so much focus on a new calendar year.  We engage in traditions and rituals to help set a positive tone for what’s to come in the year ahead.

Maybe you’re creating your vision board, choosing a word of the year, listing intentions, setting up your calendar, going on a retreat, or divining with an annual tarot spread.

But what if you’re not quite ready to begin?

The Gregorian calendar tells us we’ve entered a new year, yet many of us are still processing loss, fear, overwhelm, and shock of what we’ve been through collectively and personally over these past three years.

It’s been a lot for a while. Enough to make anyone weary and disheartened about a new year.

Let’s take a breath.

When you’re not quite ready to begin, it’s an opportunity to refocus on the end so you can eventually start with greater preparation and intention. You’re allowing yourself to align with your internal clock. Your own sense of “right timing.”

It’s like when you’re on vacation and you get to wake up without an alarm clock. You don’t stay asleep forever. You greet the morning when it feels right for you.

But how many of us don’t trust that a new beginning will come, so we grab hold of external timing in hopes that the new year’s momentum will urge us forward?

There’s a better way to support your new beginning.

Three ways you can help usher in your fresh start

  1. Take stock of inner transformations— big and small. If, like many people, the last three years were marked by grief, healing, transition, and uncertainty, understand that your usual way of evaluating a successful year may need updating. The inner transformations necessary to make it through are often not recognized or appreciated by family, friends, and society. You’ve had to master yourself internally, so go ahead and celebrate your win.
  1. Make the best decision despite the lack of total clarity. Sometimes we don’t begin because we lack clarity on what’s beginning. Yeah, there’s a new year ahead of you, but what and how?  Engage in some inner reflection, decide, write it down, and then move forward. Though the universe will bring the unexpected, you still have a say in what you create. Trust that you can always make a different decision when you have more information. You can’t get it wrong.
  1. Check-in with your Soul. Your soul is the wise part of you that is unbothered and untouched by the demands of the external world. The guidance it provides is subtle and profound, yet often inconvenient. It’s way too easy to ignore the whispers of your Soul.  This is why I’ve created the Reconnect to Soul session for you. Each one-on-one session will help you reestablish your connection to your inner guidance. By mixing the practical and the astrological, this session will help guide you back to your purpose, restore faith in yourself, and create greater vitality for your year ahead.

Sessions are available through March 31, 2023. Learn more here.

If you’re still not ready to begin 2023, don’t worry there are many more opportunities to begin. Yours will come.
